Given their assets and the possibility of acquiring Zion Williamson in the NBA Draft, basketball analyst Colin Cowherd believes that the New York Knicks should avoid trading for Anthony Davis.

Via Twitter, Cowherd pointed out that the team already has Kristaps Porzingis and Kevin Knox — two of the prized players of the team right now. And in the event that the Knicks offer a trade for Davis, at least one of these players including a draft pick would likely have to go.

As far as Cowherd is concerned, it seems that trading for Davis won't be beneficial. While there's no denying Davis' talent — which many believe is a top 5 elite player in the NBA — the Knicks already have key pieces intact. They might even have a chance to add more come the 2019 NBA Draft.

But before anything else, are the Knicks intent on pursuing Davis in the first place? Davis made it clear that he wants to be traded to a team who can contend for a championship. And given their situation, it might take two or three more seasons before the Knicks get back to their winning ways.

Either way, Cowherd presents an interesting case.

If the Knicks are actually considering a roster shakeup, they might need to look closer at the talent they possess first.
