The New York Knicks are on a five-game losing streak and 2-8 in their last 10 games.

Head coach David Fizdale, however, insists that the Knicks are playing better basketball as of late.

“We've played better basketball,” Fizdale said after Saturday's practice, via SNY. “It may not show up in wins, but I think overall, consistency, effort, and giving ourselves a chance to win these games has been much better. Other than the Toronto game the other night, I really feel like all other games we've really been right there with these teams.”

The Knicks aren't expected to compete for the playoffs this season. This year is all about developing RJ Barrett, Dennis Smith Jr., Kevin Knox, Mitchell Robinson and Allonzo Trier the proper way.

New York will look to snap its losing streak on Sunday at home against the Boston Celtics, who are 13-5 on the season. Fizdale's group can't take this type of approach the whole season. At some point, wins have to be earned by the Knicks even though this is another rebuild year.

Reports about Fizdale's firing have gone quiet lately. It looks like owner James Dolan is going to give Fizdale, president Steve Mills and general manager Scott Perry the rest of the season to show him the franchise is improving.
