The New York Knicks have created two max slots by trading power forward Kristaps Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks.

According to ESPN's Bobby Marks, the Knicks could potentially have $74.6 million in projected cap space for next season.

Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Jimmy Butler and Kyrie Irving can all become free agents this summer if they decline their 2019-20 player options with their respective teams.

The Knicks are expected to heavily pursue all four All-Stars, with the hope that they can land two of them.

The question now is whether or not star players want to play for the Knicks. The franchise hasn't made the postseason since 2013.

General manager Scott Perry and president Steve Mills are trying to change the culture of the organization. Acquiring point guard Dennis Smith Jr. from the Mavs in the KP trade at least gives the team a young asset to build with.

The last time New York had cap space like this was back in the summer of 2010. They pursued LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. In the end, they got Amar'e Stoudemire, who put up good numbers for the organization, but wasn't the high-caliber player that LeBron, Wade and Bosh were.

We'll see if the Knicks are able to put their money to good use this time around.
