Stephen A. Smith might not be the biggest fan of Kyrie Irving's off-court antics, but even he can't deny how good of a basketball player the Brooklyn Nets star is. With that said, the veteran broadcaster won't have a problem if his New York Knicks trade for him.

The Knicks have been linked with Irving amid his contract issues with the Nets, and being the biggest New York fan that he is, Smith couldn't help but salivate at the possibility of seeing the All-Star guard wearing blue and orange.

Of course there is a catch: Smith emphasized that the Knicks shouldn't give Irving more than one year in guaranteed money in case he is forced to be sidelined once again. They can't just trust him that fast after his disastrous 2021-22 season in Brooklyn.

“Desperate times call for desperate measures. And this brother is a superstar talent. Box office. … If I've got a chance to get Kyrie Irving, walking into the Garden, and I don't have to guarantee more than one year at a time? Oh I'm goin' to take that chance,” Smith said, via First Take.

Stephen A. Smith's take is pretty interesting since it is only recently when he called Kyrie Irving “delusional” for reaching an impasse with the Nets with his contract negotiations. Clearly, Smith is not happy with the guard asking for more money despite missing a huge chunk of the past campaign.

Unfortunately for Smith and the Knicks, though, a potential move for Irving to the other side of New York is unlikely because the ‘Bockers don't have the cap space to sign him or any interest in trading for him. Not to mention that the Nets are working hard to keep Kyrie in a bid not to alienate Kevin Durant.
