Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball doesn't have the gargantuan aspirations of his father beating Michael Jordan one-on-one, but rather some other hefty ones that are within the realm of possibility.

The No. 2 overall selection is optimistic his team is shooting for the playoffs this upcoming season and remains intent in chasing that goal throughout the course of 82 games.

“Trying to make the playoffs. That’s the plan, that’s what we’re working to, so that’s definitely the goal for this year,” Ball told Lang Whitaker of NBA.com.

The former UCLA Bruin didn't stutter through it, but was rather aware of the self-growing beast that is the West this 2017-18 season.

“I know the Western Conference is tough, but I think it’s doable or I wouldn’t say it,” added Ball.

The Lakers have finished within the last two spots of the Western Conference throughout the last four season, making this a rather hefty goal to achieve, given the abundant youth of the roster.

Having a definite upgrade at the point guard and center position this season will definitely net the team more wins, but going against improved squads like the Denver Nuggets and the Houston Rockets in an often basis should prove a troublesome challenge to overcome.

If Ball can carry the team to the last spot of the playoffs, it would be a giant step forward for a team coming off 26 wins last season.
