Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis has been listed as “day-to-day” with a sprained right thumb, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

Davis suffered the injury in the first half of the Lakers' preseason game against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday. The six-time NBA All-Star initially stayed in the game with his thumb taped up. However, he left the game eventually after 12 minutes of action and finished with six points on 2-for-7 shooting, three rebounds, two blocks and a steal.

The Lakers' open the season on Oct. 22 against the beefed-up Los Angeles Clippers. Kawhi Leonard — the Clips' biggest acquisition in the offseason — is set to play alongside the Lou Williams, Patrick Beverly and Montrezl Harrel among others.

Paul George, however, is expected to sit out up until November as he's still recovering from a shoulder surgery.

Despite these setbacks, the first duel of the season between the two Los Angeles teams is expected to be a tight matchup. Not because they're out to prove which is the better team in the city, but because their roster comprises some of the best talents the NBA has to offer.

The opening night of the 2019-20 season is going to be a great treat for fans all over. Hopefully though, AD will be healthy in time for the tipoff.
