The Los Angeles Lakers face the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night without the services of LeBron James, who was recently ruled out due to a mysterious knee injury. LA head coach Frank Vogel has spoken out about the impact of LeBron's absence on the lineup, particularly the role Anthony Davis will be asked to play for the team moving forward.

With LeBron out of the picture, Vogel expects AD to play more minutes at the center (h/t Harrison Faigen of Silver Screen & Roll):

As coach Vogel stated, AD will be expected to play more minutes at the five moving forward and it sounds like Davis is more than willing to make the change. This isn't exactly an unfamiliar role for the 6-foot-10 big man, with Davis already adept at playing the center position for his former team, the New Orleans Pelicans.

Ever since he joined the Lakers in 2019, Davis has been used by Vogel in AD's preferred power forward position. One could argue that he's more effective at the four spot, but at this point, it sounds like LA has no other choice but to employ Davis as their primary center. This does not exactly bode well for the Lakers' natural bigs in Dwight Howard and DeAndre Jordan.
