Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers has withdrawn his commitment in playing for Team USA in the upcoming FIBA World Cup, according to reports.

Davis would like to focus his attention on the upcoming NBA season, where the Los Angeles Lakers are expected to contend for a championship.

AD was acquired by the Lakers last month in a massive trade with the New Orleans Pelicans. He will play alongside four-time MVP LeBron James as the Purple and Gold look to end their title drought next season.

The last time the Lakers won a championship was in 2010 when Kobe Bryant led the team to a grueling seven-game series against the Boston Celtics to win the franchise's 16th title.

Since then, the Lakers have slowly lost their status as one of the best teams in the league. They officially began their rebuild in 2014, and they've been a lottery team until 2017. Unfortunately, none of the players they selected in the draft were able to live up to the expectations. This, despite the fact that they have been received the second overall pick for three straight years (2015-2017).

Things changed last summer when the Lakers landed LeBron via free agency. The expectations started to grow once again for Laker fans, and although they missed the playoffs in James' first year with the franchise, they have quickly recovered by adding AD.

Now, barring any major injuries to their best players, the Lakers look to dominate the Western Conference once again. They have a competitive roster that can go toe-to-toe with the NBA's best, and superstars who are committed to winning.
