It has been 105 days since Brittney Griner was detained in a Russian prison for supposed drug charges. It's almost unimaginable to think that she still remains jailed for nearly four months now. This is exactly why Los Angeles Lakers veteran Carmelo Anthony is taking a stand here.

Melo took to Twitter to share a brief clip of himself speaking about Griner's dire situation. The Lakers forward is heading a petition to facilitate the release of the WNBA star:

“Today is the 105th day that our friend, sister, teammate, Brittney Griner has been wrongfully detained in Russia. Day 105! It is time to bring her home!” Anthony wrote in his tweet.

I can't even begin to imagine what Griner, her family, and her friends have been going through in this ordeal. A few weeks ago, it was reported that United States President Joe Biden himself has gone out of his way to try and facilitate Griner's release. The U.S. was reportedly even willing to offer a prisoner exchange for Griner which involved the release of notorious Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout. That contentious deal obviously hasn't come to fruition, which is why people like Lakers vet Carmelo Anthony have taken upon themselves to do what they can to help Griner.
