The Los Angeles Lakers and the Minnesota Timberwolves face off on Thursday night before each team will start their All-Star break.

The Lakers bench will be a little short handed though. According to the Los Angeles Lakers official Twitter account,

Channing Frye (personal reasons) is out for the Lakers tonight against Minnesota.

Frye was traded over to the Lakers from the Cleveland Cavaliers at the trade deadline and hasn't made much of an impact.

He was inactive for the first game, didn't appear in the second game, and in the third game he played 11 minutes and was a minus-22 during that stretch. He finished the game with three points that came by way of a three-pointer.

After having no problem cracking the lineup early in his career, this year has been a bit different for Frye. He is averaging only 12 minutes a game and scoring almost five points.

He is a good veteran leader for this Lakers team, but his impact might be short off the court and in practices rather than in the game.

If there is an injury though, he is still a guy that can log 25 or 30 minutes a night, and give a team a solid stat line.

Before the game, the  Timberwolves will be honoring Flip Saunders, who passed away from cancer in 2015. They will be unveiling a permanent banner with Flip's name on it that will honor his memory.

All Wolves players will also be wearing shoes that honor him. Look for it to be a very emotional night at Target Center.
