Amid the controversial statements by LeBron James regarding the Daryl Morey-China issue, Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel shared that he has complete ‘trust' in the star forward when it comes to speaking about global issues.
Per Harrison Faigen of SB Nation:
“He's been remarkable with that throughout his career. Speaking up, and knowing when it's necessary, and not doing so when it's not. So I stay out of that, and trust him.”
To recall, James shared his thoughts on the Daryl Morey-China controversy that has sparked tensions between the entire league and the country. While most players and coaches remained mum or neutral, James' statement seemed to castigate Morey for his since-deleted tweet in support of Hong Kong.
James has since clarified that his comment was about the repercussions of the statement rather than the substance. However, that didn't stop people from criticizing him.

James has been receiving tons of backlash from NBA fans and political pundits alike. Some have pointed out that this is the most amount of criticism he has received since “The Decision.”
It has certainly been an interesting turn of events to welcome the 2019-20 season. Hopefully for LeBron and the Lakers, the issue and criticisms won't be a distraction as they enter an important 2019-20 season.
