The shorts that LeBron James wore on his first public appearance as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, now belong to Jeanie Buss — the franchise's owner.

Buss posted the photo of the shorts on Twitter, placing it beside one the Lakers' championship trophy:

James wore the shorts during Summer League. It immediately sold out, despite its hefty price tag of $500. Will Buss actually wear the shorts? Or will she include it as part of the many Lakers memorabilia?

After landing the biggest fish in free agency market, the Lakers are now assembling a team that could possibly compete for a championship. After the James signing, the purple and gold got Rajon Rondo, Lance Stephenson, Michael Beasley, and JaVale McGee.

It turns out that James had a part in those key signings. Speaking with Rachel Nichols of ESPN, James commended the Lakers' front office:

“At the end of the day, guys that love to play ball, and that's what they do every single day, I love that. I love that, and I think [Rob] Pelinka and Magic [Johnson] love that as well, and that's why they made the signings. And bringing Lance and JaVale and Beas and Rondo, they're guys that every day that they wake up they think about the game of basketball. And everything else is secondary.
