The Los Angeles Lakers didn't start the 2018-19 NBA season the way they had hoped they would as the LeBron James era gets underway with the loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. However, the team remained in good spirits after practice on Friday with Josh Hart having heaps of praise for the team undisputed leader.

Hart emphasized LeBron's vocal leadership and the three-time NBA champion is also leading the team by example as the franchise tries to finally turn things around.

“He's our leader,” Hart said of LeBron. “He's vocal. He does things by example. He's the best player in the world…He's out there. He's competing every day. He's talking to us making sure we're working on those championship habits.

“He knows more than anybody. Those little habits. That attention to detail can change the outcome of a game. It can win games; it can lose games. He's a vocal leader, but he goes out there and doesn't just talk, he does it by example.”

In LeBron's first game as a Laker, the veteran forward filled up the stat sheet as he normally does with 26 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists. Hart was also impressive as he came off the bench and put up 20 points, four rebounds, three steals, and two blocks.

On Saturday, the Lakers will play their first regular-season game at the Staples Center with another tough challenge ahead of them against James Harden and the Houston Rockets. The Rockets are also coming off a loss as they were unexpectedly beaten by Anthony Davis' New Orleans Pelicans.

Both teams will be hungry for a win on Saturday with LeBron looking to make an impression in front of the Lakers faithful while Harden and try to bounce back from their season-opening loss.
