In the wake of the Los Angeles Lakers reportedly zoning into swingman JR Smith as a potential replacement for Avery Bradley, the former received a snarky response from business reporter John Burnett.

An ESPN video highlighted some of Smith's best plays — most of which took place with the Denver Nuggets and the New York Knicks — only to get trolled with a reminder of LeBron James asking about his passing skills:

Smith didn't take the dig kindly, taking Burnett for a Donald Trump supporter:

Burnett tried to mend the situation with the NBA free agent, but Smith wasn't having any of it:

Smith has likely heard every joke in the book when it comes to his all-time gaffe in Game 1 of the 2018 NBA Finals. The sharpshooter ensnared an offensive rebound in the dying seconds of a tied game in regulation, only to pass it to a hounded George Hill instead of a wide-open LeBron James.

The video has been seared into his legacy along with the memorable meme of LeBron James complaining about his lack of awareness.

That is perhaps why it's so mind-numbing that The King would consider a reunion at the eve of the two-year anniversary from that painful memory.

The Cavs would go on to get swept by the Golden State Warriors, leaving many wondering how things would have looked if they had won that game in regulation.

The Lakers don't have many options floating around. Smith may not bring the same defense that Avery Bradley brings to the table, but his shooting could help the team at one point or another. Just don't give him the ball in crunch time.
