Recently, many believed that Los Angeles Lakers head coach Luke Walton called out Julius Randle after an embarrassing 114-90 loss to the Thunder on Wednesday night. However, according to Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times, Randle denied the rumors and established that Walton's comments were aimed to make him a better leader.

Julius Randle said he doesn’t believe Luke Walton called him out after the OKC game. Said “some people twist the words.” He has spoken to Walton in the past about setting the tone for toughness. Says that’s part of being a leader.

It's a common scene for coaches to yell at their players. In fact, it's a regular part of the game. Now, it appears that Randle has an opposing view on whether Walton actually called him out. If Randle is correct, then Walton was likely trying to get his power forward to set the tone for toughness and be more physical in blowout games.

Either way, the Lakers have nothing to worry about with this incident, especially since Randle doesn't think it's serious. Hopefully, Randle can exhibit more of the toughness he spoke to Walton about moving forward.

The Lakers have been one of the most disappointing teams in the NBA. The accumulation of star point guard Lonzo Ball, added by the excellent play of Kyle Kuzma was supposed to, at least, make the Lakers a team who will compete for a Western Conference playoff spot. However, the team has failed to live up to its lofty expectations set at the beginning of the season.
