Championship teams traditionally visit the White House, but much like everything else, this practice was put on hold due to the pandemic. The Los Angeles Lakers have yet to visit 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for winning it all last season, and it will stay that way this month.

Because of scheduling and existing COVID-19 protocols, the Lakers will not be able to make their visit, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN. The opportunity was there since Los Angeles will take on the Washington Wizards in their home court this April. Reports say that a future visit is still possible.

One way of keeping the tradition alive is by doing the visit virtually. It will not be the same and will have a sense that the event is diminished. This is the easiest and safest solution out there and the NBA has already embraced virtual fans in its games.

The Lakers have been rocked by serious injuries to its superstars LeBron James and Anthony Davis, thus the team has been steadily slipping down the standings. They are currently at the fifth spot in the Western Conference with a 34-22 record

The addition of big man Andre Drummond is a boon to the team, but if the dynamic duo does not return soon, then they are looking at a difficult matchup in the playoffs early on.

At this rate, it might be logistically more feasible to have this season's champions and Los Angeles have a joint visit. If the Lakers want to make the planning easier, they should just win back-to-back.
