As of the moment, LeBron James sits at the third spot in the NBA's all-time scoring list with 36,664 career points. Above him are two of the greatest players in league history in Karl Malone (36,928) and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387). And this point in his career, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar has a really good shot at becoming the greatest scorer of all time by the time he calls it a career.

In a recent episode of HBO's The Shop:Uninterrupted, LeBron opened up about his place in the history books. The Lakers talisman described himself as a pass-first type of player, which is why it's “weird” for him now that he's climbing atop the all-time scoring leaderboard. Be that as it may, James confessed that he's dejected by the disrespect he continues to receive when it comes to this particular subject:

“The crazy thing is I’m not like a natural scorer,” James said. “I love getting my guys involved, I’ve always been that way. The point of seeing my teammate succeed off my pass. I've always been that type of guy. And to sit on top of the food chain in the most points scored in the history of the game is like it's weird to me. When they talk about the best scorers of all time, they never mention my name.

“It pisses me off. They don't ever bring my name to it.”

LeBron does have a point here. When talking about the best pure scorers in the game, guys like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Wilt Chamberlain are the first names that come to mind. For most, LeBron James becomes a bit of an afterthought.

I guess what we can take away from this fact is that this speaks volumes of LeBron's greatness. He does so many other things on the basketball court that often times, we tend to overlook how gifted he is as a scorer.

Take this season, for instance. The Lakers superstar is currently averaging 28.8 points per game. That's the most points he's averaged in his career since 2009-10 season. Moreover, at 37, LeBron ranks third in the NBA in most points per game just behind MVP frontrunners Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid. If that doesn't prove that James is one of the best scorers this game has ever seen then I don't know what does.
