Earlier this year, the world lost a legend in Kobe Bryant. A little over eight months later, we also lost one of the most iconic Hollywood stars of this generation in Chadwick Boseman. Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James reflected on just how insane it is that we lost these two megastars within the same year. The King also officially dubbed 2020 as the crappiest year in his lifetime.

Yeah, 2020 isn’t it. Not for Lakers fans. Not for anyone at all.

Everyone obviously still hasn’t moved on from The Black Mamba’s untimely passing back in January from a tragic helicopter crash that also killed his daughter Gianna and seven others. And now, The Black Panther star’s passing only deepens the wound further. Chadwick Boseman died after a four-year battle with colon cancer, his family revealed in a statement.

As James said, 2020 is officially the worst year ever. Obviously, the entire world is still dealing with the on-going coronavirus pandemic. Furthermore, there is plenty of social unrest in the United States brought about racial injustice.

Losing two of the world’s most prominent icons, especially in the Black community, more so now amidst The Black Lives Matter movement, just adds more to our agony.

Tributes for Boseman, 43, poured in from all over the globe, including from many prominent NBA stars. Many people praised the Hollywood actor for fighting through the pain of his illness, going through all the treatment and chemotherapy, all while doing his films, including Black Panther.

In the same way, Bryant did so on numerous occasions throughout his Hall of Fame basketball career. The Lakers legend persevering through the pain to shoot two free throws just moments after tearing his Achilles is one of the most memorable moments of his career and one that encapsulates his Mamba Mentality.
