Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James showed sympathy to the families of the victims of the recent Texas school shooting and called for a massive change as such acts of violence continue to persist even in places where children are supposed to be safe.

On Tuesday, a gunman reportedly opened fire at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. The heartbreaking tragedy took the lives of at least 14 students and one teacher, with the suspect also reportedly being killed after he was fatally wounded by responding law enforcement officers.

According to Texas governor Greg Abbott, the suspect is an 18-year-old man who was living in Uvalde, per CBS News.

After learning of the painful incident, LeBron James took to Twitter to share his thoughts and prayers for the victims and their families. The Lakers star also condemned the action that took the innocent lives of the people at Robb Elementary and expressed hope that authorities can do something to put an end to the hate and killing.

“My thoughts and prayers goes out to the families of love ones loss & injured at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, TX!” the Lakers leader wrote.

“Like when is enough enough man!!! These are kids and we keep putting them in harms way at school. Like seriously “AT SCHOOL” where it's suppose to be the safest!”

More details on the incident are expected to be released as the situation develops. Unfortunately, the situation comes after the FBI revealed that active shooter incidents in the US increased by 50 percent in 2021 from 2020.

Our prayers go out to the friends and families of the victims and the whole of Texas amid these tough and trying times.
