All things considered, LeBron James has done a marvelous job of keeping his temper in check while getting inundated by heckles and invectives wherever he goes for the most part of his career. But if you want to test the limits of James’ patience, then verbally hounding his sons while they’re on the basketball court is a good start.

In a trailer for the premiere episode of LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s The Shop talk show on HBO, the four-time MVP narrates that one time when a player’s mom got his ire, while he was watching Bronny play in an AAU game.

“I got into an argument with an AAU mom,” James admitted, sending the other celebrities around him bursting into a mix of laughter and disbelief. Along with Carter, James was also surrounded by Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Michael Bennett, New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara, Los Angeles Sparks star Candace Parker, rapper Snoop Dogg, and comedian Jon Stewart.

James said he immediately regretted his spontaneous reaction, even apologizing to his own mom because he finally understood where his mom was coming from when she was the one running her mouth from the bleachers back in the day.

“You want to know the first person I apologized to? It was my mom that was sitting right here, and the reason why I apologized to my mom was because I used to get on my mom so much. When I was a kid and she should go crazy in my AAU games, I was just like ‘Mom, chill out mom,’ and I went crazy about my kids.”

The pilot episode of The Shop will be aired on Aug. 28 at 11 p.m. ET.
