More than his on-court performance, it was the sneakers of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James that stood out in their game against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night. He paid tribute to Florida A&M University by wearing a LeBron 18 PE that was dressed in the institution's colors of neon green and orange.

After the game, James then gave a shout-out on Twitter to show his support for the university.

Florida A&M University is known as an HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) that is located in Tallahassee, Florida. The outpour of support for these institutions has significantly improved, especially at the height of the Black Lives Matter movement. Suns point guard Chris Paul is also a supporter of the cause as he wore countless HBCU apparel which started during his stint in the Orlando Bubble with the Oklahoma City Thunder last season.

The vibrance and uniqueness of the sneakers definitely helped the four-time MVP put on another dominating performance on the floor. He notched 38 points, five rebounds, and six assists for the Lakers who are still missing the services of Anthony Davis due to his calf and Achilles injuries.

Despite his performance, the Purple and Gold still fell short against a Suns side that lost Devin Booker due to an ejection midway through the tilt. Apart from him, four other Suns players scored in double digits to lift their team to a 114-104 victory.

With another loss, the Lakers have now dropped to a 24-12 record for the third spot in the Western Conference. LeBron James is set to sit out their upcoming encounter against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night as he will opt to rest his ankle prior to the All-Star break.

LeBron James' support will definitely go a long way for these HBCUs. The shoes they inspired aren't half bad either.
