Lonzo Ball's rookie season is now part of history. But before he plays his sophomore year, the talented point guard out of UCLA will play a significant role in the Los Angeles Lakers' preparations for the future.

It's no secret that the Lakers are out to lure big-name free agents such as LeBron James and Paul George in the summer. Apart from the palm trees, the weather, the big market, and the cap space to form a potent group, the team is also banking on their assembly of young and talented players to make them more attractive to prospective stars.

Ball, despite being ridiculed for his shot-making, has shown flashes of brilliance many times in the regular season. He struggled with injuries that limited him to playing only 52 games for the Purple and Gold, but he still averaged 10.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and 1.7 steals per game.

In speaking with Bill Oram of The Orange County Register, Ball talked about his potential appeal toward players who will consider the Lakers in free agency.

“I just did what I could to help my team. So whether it be LeBron, Paul George or whoever, if they liked it they liked it. If they didn’t, they didn’t. I can’t do anything about it now.”

The sight of Ball running the break with George and James on the wings instantly makes many Lakers fans drool. He's only going to improve and when he reaches his peak, Ball is a cinch to become a player whom many would love to be on the floor with akin to James and other playmaking greats such as Jason Kidd and Steve Nash.
