The Los Angeles Lakers are prepared for star small forward LeBron James to miss several games due to a left groin strain he suffered against the Golden State Warriors on Christmas, according to Adrian Wojnarowski and Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

The Lakers have listed LeBron as day-to-day, but he needs to rehab his groin injury before he can step back onto the floor. LA isn't going to rush the four-time league MVP back.

While an MRI revealed LeBron James sidestepped serious injury, the All-NBA forward did sustain a significant left groin strain and the Los Angeles Lakers are preparing for him to miss several games, league sources told ESPN.

The Lakers are calling James' absence “day to day,” but sources told ESPN there is a healing process that needs to occur before James can return to the lineup.

In his first season with the Lakers, LeBron James is averaging 27.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game while shooting 51.8 percent from the field, 35.6 percent from beyond the arc and 68.2 percent from the free-throw line.

The Lakers are 20-14 on the season, good for fourth place in the rugged Western Conference. This stretch of games without LeBron James, though, is going to be tough.
