When the Los Angeles Lakers successfully traded for Anthony Davis last month, it was expected that a lot of players would be wanting to join the franchise in order to have an opportunity to play with him and four-time MVP, LeBron James.

One of those players is Quinn Cook, who said that AD is a major reason why he chose to go to the Lakers.

“It’s so exciting. AD was the first person to call me during the free-agency process. We talked so much during the process (laughs). When Golden State withdrew my qualifying offer, [he reached out]. He’s a big, big, big, big reason why I’m in L.A. now,” Cook told Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype.

“We had been close since high school, playing together as McDonald’s All-Americans and with Team USA and playing against each other on the circuit. We always stayed in contact over the years and then we obviously reunited in New Orleans in 2016-17. He’s always been one of my best friends in the league and we’ve always kept in touch. It’s going to be extremely cool to be back around him on a daily basis.”

Cook showed plenty of potential in his first few years in the league, which is probably one of the main reasons why AD reached out to him. He was a decent backup to Stephen Curry when he was with the Golden State Warriors, and he's expected to get the same role with the Lakers.

The Lakers' roster is filled with players who can play the point, which means Cook will have plenty of competition for minutes next season. Still, he's not worried about it at the moment as he's just enjoying the fact that he is now a Laker and that one of the best players in the NBA wanted to be teammates with him.
