The NBA trade deadline is on the 25th of March, meaning it's right around the corner. The rumor mill has been buzzing for weeks, but no big trades have been made as of yet. One name that's been floating around recently is the Toronto Raptors star point guard, Kyle Lowry, who the Lakers are reportedly interested in.

After signing Dennis Schroder and Montrezl Harrell during the offseason, it seems as though the two of them are up on the trade block. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope joins them as well, as the Lakers are looking to shake things up before the trade deadline, per Jake Fischer.

At 34 years old, Lowry is still more than capable of playing in the NBA. He's currently averaging 17.6 points, 7.4 assists, and 5.6 rebounds per game. The 15-year veteran would be a fantastic acquisition for Los Angeles, as his play at point guard will be valuable for the Lakers during the postseason.

The Lakers are in trouble of losing their high playoff spot after the loss of James and Anthony Davis. However, a trade for Lowry could be what this organization needs to stay competitive until James and Davis come back. Additionally, having someone like Lowry playing alongside those two superstars could mean trouble for the rest of the league.

The Lakers might be losing some depth in a possible trade with the Raptors, but securing a solid point guard might ensure an NBA title this year. Los Angeles plays their next game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night. We'll see if a trade goes through before then.
