When it comes to the side-circus that he carries, LaVar Ball is the father of an NBA rookie. But on the stuff that really matters, he is Lonzo Ball’s dad. Catch the drift?
Purple and gold coach Luke Walton recently attested to the acceptable behavior that the elder Ball has shown the franchise since Lonzo was drafted by the team. No distractions whatsoever.

This is important not only for LaVar Ball—who is banking on the success of his eldest son to catapult their family’s Big Baller Brand to serious significance, rather than being a brand that is symbolic of the figure that LaVar has exuded in public—but also for the Lakers.
It’s not only on the outspoken father to keep his comments and presence in check. The Lakers are also aware that they have to be wary of their treatment of LaVar Ball’s image so as not to alienate their projected franchise cornerstone in Lonzo.
To his credit, LaVar Ball has already spoken into existence the source of excitement in Tinseltown basketball right now. It’s all up to Lonzo from this point onwards.
