Orlando Magic big man Mo Bamba has left the Walt Disney bubble and won't play in the 2020 postseason.

The Magic announced that Bamba is set to undergo a “comprehensive post-coronavirus evaluation.”

In a June interview with Robbins, Bamba talked about how COVID-19 impacted his conditioning.

The former Texas star contracted the virus in June:

“With his disclosure Thursday to The Athletic, the answer is clear: The illness, along with the subsequent false positives, kept Bamba off the court for almost a full month, causing a decline in his cardio levels. With a diminished level of conditioning, it made it more difficult for Bamba to carry the 20-plus pounds of additional weight — much of it muscle — he had gained during the hiatus through changing his diet and lifting weights in his home.”

The Magic will face the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the 2020 playoffs. Even with Bamba, Orlando was likely going to lose since the Bucks have the best record in the NBA and argubaly the top player in Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Bamba will finish the 2019-20 season with averages of 5.4 points and 4.9 rebounds in 62 games. Thus far, his first two years in the NBA have been a disappointment since he was the sixth overall pick in the 2018 draft and was expected to at least crack double-digit scoring in Year 2.
