There are several “what ifs” in Tracy McGrady's career. Recently, he weighed in on what could've happened if he stayed with the Orlando Magic.

As reported by Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel, McGrady said:

To recall, McGrady was drafted by the Toronto Raptors as the ninth overall pick back in 1997 straight out of high school. Maturity was obviously still not there but there was a talent waiting to be unlocked.

Come the 1998-1999 season, McGrady teamed up with his cousin Vince Carter. Yet what could've been a major backcourt tandem was put to a grinding halt as T-Mac signed with the Orlando Magic in the 2000-2001 season.

And it was in Orlando where he blossomed into a superstar. While in Orlando, McGrady earned his first All-Star game appearance, was selected into the All-NBA team, crowned Most Improved Player, was crowned NBA scoring champion twice, and many more. However, he always fell short when playoff time came.

His postseason failures with the Magic might have triggered the move to Houston. He also made a name for himself with the Rockets but it seems that Orlando has a special place in McGrady's heart.

Recently, he was inducted into the Magic Hall of Fame. As reported by the Associated Press as posted on ESPN.com, McGrady said:

“Yes, I got inducted into the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame, but today is special to me,” McGrady said. “On a personal level, growing up in Auburndale, Florida, my mom used to drive over here every summer when I was playing basketball in Orlando … and I used to tell my mom, I would tell my friends that I was going to be wearing this uniform one day.”
