On the other hand, Nowitzki will join Kevin Durant in the NBA 2K22 ‘Legends Edition’ cover.
Following the notable announcement, Nowitzki took some time to laud some of the NBA’s brightest stars today, including Luka Doncic. The former NBA MVP winner has gone to a multitude of Mavericks games over the years, and he still remains in awe of watching Doncic play each time.
Many view Luka Doncic as a future NBA MVP winner, but Nowitzki took it a step further with his comments of the Slovenian star.
“I would say he’s better than me now than I’ve ever been in my prime,” Nowitzki said. “That’s how good he is at 22 already.”

Nowitzki much enjoys watching a multitude of young stars in the NBA today, but for him, Luka Doncic still stands out due to his sheer ability to simply hit impressive shots on a game-by-game basis.
“He’s so special to watch because he’s so fun,” Nowitzki said. “I think sometimes he doesn’t even know what he’s going to do next. I mean, I watched a playoff game this year where he dribbles up and he shoots a one-legged 3 pointer, which is unbelievable, and he makes it.
“This kid just has a special gift to make exciting plays.”
For now, Luka Doncic will have the opportunity to showcase to the world on why he can be basketball’s next global superstar as he will be taking part in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics with the Slovenian national team.
Luka Doncic sure has what it takes to lead Slovenia to a possible deep run in the tournament.
