The Dallas Mavericks just got a double feature on the latest edition of NBA 2k. Both their past and present franchise icons in Luka Doncic and Dirk Nowitzki were named cover athletes for 2K22
The huge NBA 2K news was reported by The Athletic's Shams Charania. Along with Doncic, WNBA star Candace Parker was also named a cover athlete, becoming the first female to be featured in the video game's long history.
NBA 2K22 covers: Luka Doncic, Candace Parker and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar/Dirk Nowitzki/Kevin Durant. Parker becomes the first female cover athlete in the history of the 2K franchise.
Both Luka Doncic and Candace Parker gave pretty humbled, if not generic reactions to gracing the NBA 2K22 cover. Pretty standard stuff from the two global stars.
Huge honor to be on the cover of #NBA2K22. Thanks @NBA2K! pic.twitter.com/ptIhpVNUdN

Extremely proud and humbled to be the first female cover athlete in the history of @NBA2K
I’m honored to work with a company that’s investing in women and betting on us to succeed. I’m hopeful there will be many more badass females to follow 💪🏽💪🏽 pic.twitter.com/WJan4YE7Qt

Dirk Nowitzki, on the other hand, appreciated the huge honor but also took a hilarious dig at his co-stars in Los Angeles Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Brooklyn Nets swingman Kevin Durant.
Not sure who these other guys are but huge honor to be on cover of #NBA2K22. Thank you @NBA2K pic.twitter.com/Aetu6HblLB

The NBA 2K franchise has had countless iterations of covers throughout the years. The fresh and vibrant feel on these latest renditions definitely looks terrific. Let's hope the actual game modes and gameplay provide as fresh of an experience as the covers themselves.
