After leaving his start early for the New York Mets on Sunday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, initial tests results and reports suggest Jacob deGrom has avoided any sort of disastrous injury.

According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, the Mets ace may miss one start or end up on the 10-day IL list, but no major time is expected to be missed for deGrom.

Jacob deGrom left the game after just five innings for the Mets in which he yielded just one run while striking out six. He exited due to tightness in his right side.

The short start and exit due to the apparent injury sent panic alarms throughout all of Mets nation. It was just a week prior that deGrom had missed a scheduled start for the Mets due to right lat inflammation. This time, however, the issue is with his right side.

The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner is up to his usual self this season in New York. On the season, deGrom is 3-2 with an MLB best 0.68 ERA. While he is still heavily lacking run support from his own offense during his starts, deGrom has buried opposing teams early and often throughout the season. He's posted 65 strikeouts in 40 innings as well.

News about his injury and the potential and hope that he only misses one start is a major win for the Mets. New York is slowly turning things around after a choppy start to the season. However, if deGrom were to miss any significant time, it would put those plans in serious jeopardy.

All in all, this is an encouraging update for deGrom and the Mets.
