The Chicago Cubs signed Marcus Stroman to a 3-year, $71 million deal on Wednesday, which ended his three-year tenure with the New York Mets. While he did clash with fans and even the front office over the last week after he sent out a few brutally honest tweets, Stroman still loved his time with the Mets and he expressed it on Thursday:

The right-hander was one of New York's most reliable arms across the last few seasons, but 2021 was arguably his best year after sitting out 2020 due to the pandemic. Stroman made 33 starts, posting a 10-13 record and 3.03 ERA, proving to be one of the best starters in the National League.

The Mets evidently chose to go in a different direction, despite Stroman voicing his desire to return to the team. They went out and signed Max Scherzer to a mega-deal which now gives them a scary 1-2 punch of Mad Max and Jacob deGrom. NY is also still looking to bolster their rotation with another arm, but those negotiations have come to a halt because of the MLB lockout.

The Cubs however will be very pleased to be getting Stroman. Chicago basically blew up their roster at the trade deadline and will be looking to speed up this rebuild. The former Duke standout can be a top of the line starter for Joe Maddon's squad and has already voiced how excited he is to pitch at Wrigley Field:

Mets fans also loved Stroman. He will be missed and it's clear the veteran has nothing but love for the city.
