After a disappointing first year at the helm in the Big Apple, New York Mets team owner Steven Cohen is nowhere near finished with the lowly National League East franchise. In fact, it appears as though Cohen is just getting started.

Apparently, the Mets fan-turned-owner has a new bright idea to get the younger generations more involved in the game of professional baseball.

“All sports are being challenged with how you attract young fans,” said Jeff Deline, the Mets' new chief revenue officer, via The Wall Street Journal. “How do we get them engaged again? Their consumer habits are completely different.”

According to the same WSJ report, Steve Cohen and company plan to utilize a variety of different avenues in order to bring the younger crowds to Mets game while enlisting the help of Range Media Partners LLC, a marketing and talent management agency.

“Marketing and talent management firm Range Media Partners LLC is leading the effort,” reads the article. “The initiative remains in development, but ideas include offering live comedy throughout games, updating existing spaces in the stadium where people can gather, adding more screens throughout the baseball park and making other technology upgrades, said Natalie Bruss, managing partner at Range, which is minority-owned by Mr. Cohen’s venture capital fund, Point72 Ventures.”

The Mets have already been eliminated from postseason contention as New York is now guaranteed to finish with a losing record in 2021, Cohen's first go-round atop the organization.

Not only that, but Cohen's Mets have set a big league record for most days spent in first place before ultimately finishing a season with a losing record.
