The Golden State Warriors and Toronto Raptors meet in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Monday night. Justin Trudeau and Nancy Pelosi are interested in the outcome.

The Warriors are facing a steep task in winning a win-or-go-home contest on the Raptors home floor.

However, with Kevin Durant back and starting in the game, perhaps the Warriors can reverse fate and seal their status as one of the greatest dynasties in NBA history.

The team’s dynastic run is not the only thing at stake on Monday night, though. Two notable politicians recently put forth a friendly wager on the series’ outcome.

Justin Trudeau, the extremely photogenic Prime Minister of Canada, and Nancy Pelosi, the United States Speaker of the House, have wagered competing gift baskets of local goods based on which team wins the series.

According to a story by Rachel Aiello on CTV News, “should the Raptors win Game 5 Monday night and clinch the NBA championship for the first time ever, Pelosi, who is from San Francisco, will be sending Trudeau a ‘selection of San Francisco’s Ghirardelli chocolate, California wine and a selection of California almonds and walnuts,’ according to the Prime Minister’s office.

Trudeau, for his part, is offering a sumptuous feast of Canadian fare, including smoked Atlantic salmon, Peace by Chocolate chocolates, Saint-Viateur Bagels, Ontario craft beers, Pansawan dry meat and Nanaimo bars.

At this point, Pelosi’s wager is in dire straits, as the Raptors of Toronto are only one game away from sealing the Warriors’ fate with a series-clinching Game 5 win.

If that’s the case, Pelosi better get that chocolate and wine ready to ship.
