The Memphis Grizzlies and second-year point guard Ja Morant are off on Monday evening, but that doesn't mean the superstar signal-caller isn't still tuned in to the NBA from his couch. With Morant apparently watching the Brooklyn Nets take on the rival New York Knicks on Monday evening, the Grizzlies standout was quite impressed with one of his counterparts in All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving.

Clearly, the best all-around player on the court as the Nets hosted the Knicks in Brooklyn, even with New York power forward Julius Randle tallying another triple-double, Irving was on fire en route to a victory while leaving Morant at a loss for words in the process.

Irving finished the narrow 114-112 win over the Knicks with a whopping 40 points to coincide with his seven assists and two boards in 37 minutes. Not only that, though, but Irving hit big shot after big shot on Monday evening as the hampered Nets now sit atop the Eastern Conference standings with 35 wins in 2020-21.

In the end, though, it wasn't even Irving who ultimately downed the Knicks. It was actually journeyman swingman Jeff Green, who finished the game with 23 points of his own, including a pair of pivotal free throws in the final seconds of regulation.

Irving, Green, and the Nets were down double digits in the third quarter before surging back with a big second-half effort. In the third quarter, the Nets outscored the Knicks, 32-21, before edging New York, 25-24, in the final frame. The Knicks scored a mere 45 points in the second half after trouncing the Nets for 67 in the first.
