Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving managed to get deafening boos even after failing to return to the TD Garden for the first matchup against his former team, the Boston Celtics. Teammate Jarrett Allen thinks the boos might have been 10 times worse had he traveled with the team or suited up to play.

“He’s not here,” teammate Spencer Dinwiddie pointed out after the game, according to Tom Westerholm of MassLive. “So whatever they had to say, well, he heard it through the TV, I’m sure. But he ain’t here. He’s not even here.”

“If Kyrie was here, it probably would have been 10 times worse,” Jarrett Allen added.

Chants of “Ky-rie sucks! Ky-rie sucks!” could be heard all around the arena, even as the Celtics took over late and wound up with a late win.

“I don’t really pay attention to the Kyrie stuff,” Celtics point man Kemba Walker, who replaced Irving as the starter in BeanTown, said after leading the Celtics to a 121-110 win. “That’s just the fans and how they feel.”

Former teammates like Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum weren't happy with how the crowd handled Irving's non-arrival, choosing to pass out fliers with “coward” written across his face.

The chants poured constantly, as Celtics fans wouldn't be denied the chance to voice their displeasure after Irving's unsuccessful two-year stint in Boston.

Tatum didn't agree with the chants:

“I mean,” Jayson Tatum said, when asked for his reaction. “We all know Kyrie don’t suck.”

Irving has now missed seven games with a shoulder injury and did not travel with the team to receive further treatment. He responded strongly to the crowd's reaction shortly after it aired on TV .
