Somewhere out there, Kevin Durant is on his burner account on Twitter, proclaiming the Brooklyn Nets will be the team to beat this coming NBA season.

Especially after the Nets escaped with a nail-biting win against the Washington Wizards in double overtime, 84-81 on Thursday in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. Rookie forward Cam Thomas, seen by some fans as a Durant clone, drained the insane, one-foot game-winning three-pointer (via Brooklyn Nets).

Guarded closely by Wizards rookie Corey Kispert, Thomas almost lost the ball with the shot clock winding down. But he gathered it in time, stayed composed, and hit the long bomb to win the game in the sudden-death second OT. Shades of Durant, ain't it?

After the game, Thomas, the 27th overall pick in this year's NBA Draft, sounded extra confident as he talked about his game-winning highlight.

“That's what big-time players do! Big-time players make plays. I wanted the win so bad, so I'm not gonna let the team lose. The first thing that went in my head was ‘Just get it up.' I saw two seconds on the clock. Just get it up. That's the shot that I always work on. So I knew it was good.”

Durant, you in there?

Thomas finished with a Durant-like game-high 31 points but didn't shot the ball well, finishing with 10-of-23 field goals. He, however, made a living from the charity stripe, sinking nine of his 10 free throws. It was also his first back-to-back games in the NBA Summer League, admitting he's still trying to adjust.

Kevin Durant has a sure gem to take under his wing.
