Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant elaborated Friday on the strangeness of the situation regarding his abrupt removal from a Feb. 5 contest against the Toronto Raptors.

Durant was kept out of the starting lineup as the Nets awaited results on an earlier test for COVID-19. He still played, logging over 19 minutes before being pulled.

The former MVP said he was frustrated by the lack of clarity:

“It was just an unfortunate situation,” Kevin Durant said, via Malika Andrews of ESPN. “I was looking forward to that game that night and being told right before tipoff that I had to wait a second for a test. You know, it just threw off the rhythm, my rhythm a bit because I wanted to go out there and play, but I'm back out there now. It is what it is.”

Durant was immediately placed in contact tracing protocol, but he was quick to vent his frustration on Twitter:

Durant admitted he was upset at how things played out at the time, but said he has since put the incident behind him:

“I was a little upset during and after the game, but I'm cool now,” Kevin Durant said, via Andrews. “I'm ready to play.”

The former MVP is officially eligible to return as of Friday, clearing the way for Durant to make his return in time for a showdown with his former team in Golden State.

The Nets head to the Bay Area following a dominant performance against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday. Brooklyn will hope Kevin Durant can help the team sustain its momentum and add some versatility and rim protection on the defensive end of the floor
