Kevin Durant might not be heading to Orlando to cheer on his teammates at the restart of the 2019-20 NBA season, but he will have some say into how they will look next season.

Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks assured Durant would be one of the main voices that help shape the team this offseason:

“He continues to be a very loud voice in terms of where we’re going in the future and what we’re doing and I involve him like the other players and staff and how we’ll continue to build this team and how we move forward,” Marks told reporters on Wednesday, according to SNY's Ian Begley.

Marks has been open about Kevin Durant and fellow newcomer Kyrie Irving having a say in front office matters — likely one of the aspects that appealed to the two superstars.

Though Durant's main impact will be on the court, whenever he fully recovers from his Achilles tear and steps on the hardwood again:

“I’ve seen him numerous times over the summer and watched the rehabilitation process and watched him getting back out there and so forth,” said Marks, who ruled him out for the remainder of the season weeks in advance. “Look, I don’t want to speak for him but he seemed to be in good spirits. He’s obviously aware of everything that’s going on whether it’s pandemic and some of the issues going on in society. We’ve had great conversations about all of that.

“…He’s always said he’s looking forward to getting on the court in Barclays,” Marks added. “And I think all of us on this call, myself included, everybody in the organization is looking forward to that time as well.”

For now, the Nets will be plenty shorthanded without their two star players, no DeAndre Jordan, and possibly no Spencer Dinwiddie after the latter two contracted the coronavirus last week.
