Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving broke his two-week silence with a cryptic Instagram post. The captionless post features the Lakota sun and earth symbol, a reference to Irving's Native American heritage.

The Nets point guard last addressed the sports world with an Instagram live explaining why he has not received the COVID-19 vaccine. Irving's choice has left him on the outside looking in on the NBA right now, as New York City's vaccine mandates continue to prohibit him from playing. His stance inspired a recent protest against vaccine protocols outside of Barclays Center, with participants hopping barriers and charging the building's doors.

The Nets have been a bit of a mess without Irving. At 2-3 on the season so far, most of the headlines around them have been regarding James Harden's struggles to adapt to the NBA's new rules forbidding excessive contact used to draw fouls. Although Kevin Durant has been nothing short of spectacular—29.8 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game on shooting splits of 54.8% from the field and 36.0% from three-point land—it hasn't been nearly enough.

Irving's scoring and playmaking would undeniably help the Nets—Durant said so himself, although in a half-serious manner—and take the pressure off Harden as he rediscovers his mojo. But Irving doesn't seem to have any consideration to change his stance.
