Steve Nash's hiring as the new Brooklyn Nets head coach certainly came as a surprise to many given that he doesn't have any prior coaching experience. Point guard Spencer Dinwiddie admitted that while he didn't see the move coming, he still thinks the former two-time league MVP is the right person to man the sidelines in Brooklyn.

Not many expected the former two-time league MVP to land the gig, especially with reports suggesting Gregg Popovich or Ty Lue as the lead candidates for the job. However, being one of the greatest floor generals of all time, Nash certainly has the qualifications for it.

In addition to his credentials as a player, Nash also has an established relationship with Kevin Durant, when the two worked together with the Golden State Warriors. Dinwiddie believes this is what Nash will ultimately bring for a championship-ready team like the Nets.

“And to me coaching at this level, especially with the talent that we have, it’s like 80% psychologist, 10% temperament, 10% x’s and o’s,” the 27-year-old Dinwiddie said via Schlomo Sprung of Forbes. “It’s mostly about managing the egos. That’s why Phil Jackson was phenomenal. He knew how to speak to Kobe. He knew how to speak to Michael.”

Kevin Durant also recently spoke about the Nash hiring. The two-time NBA champ expressed his excitement to play for his former player development coach with the Warriors.

Many expect Brooklyn to compete for the NBA championship next season. With Durant and Kyrie Irving coming back healthy along with a steady supporting cast of Dinwiddie, Caris LeVert, DeAndre Jordan, and Jarrett Allen, the Nets will certainly be a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference.
