The New England Patriots are the betting favorites over the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII. However, it appears Madden 19 is predicting a different outcome.

There is plenty of speculation regarding which team will be able to pull out a victory. According to ESPN's Michael Rothstein, Madden simulators have the Rams beating the Patriots thanks to a historic performance from defensive tackle Aaron Donald:

The Rams beat the Patriots in this simulation based heavily off the play of defensive lineman Aaron Donald, who sacked Tom Brady four times and hit him seven times to win the Super Bowl MVP award.

Of course, it is safe to take such predictions with a grain of salt. They had the Patriots beating the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl last year, and that clearly was not the result. Madden's track record concludes that it is right every other year after doing the same with its previous two picks.

Regardless, the prospect of Donald being the deciding factor in this game certainly is not far-fetched. He registered 20.5 sacks and generated more pressure on quarterbacks facing more double teams than any other player in the league by a wide margin. Even head coach Bill Belichick has admitted that Donald was ‘unblockable' and is undoubtedly looking for any way to contain the reigning Defensive Player of the Year.

Despite the Rams' talent, it is still difficult to bet against seasoned champs like Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady. The pair have gone to an unprecedented nine Super Bowls together and do not look to be slowing down anytime soon. It will be interesting to see if Madden 19 can get back on track with their picks.
