We are now in Week 12 of the NFL Season! The New York Jets take on the Houston Texans in an AFC battle. It's time to continue our NFL odds series with a Jets-Texans prediction and pick based on Jets Texans odds.
The New York Jets struggle to win games. Well, both of these teams do. But at least the Texans won last week. Both of these teams rank at the bottom in offensive and defensive stats. The Jets are 21st on offense and 32nd in defense. The Texans are 30th on offense and 30th on defense. It's been a difficult season for both of these squads. Weirdly enough, these two teams have only faced eight times ever. The Jets lead the all-time series 5-3. This game doesn't have much traction to the rest of the season but let's see what the spreads are for bettors.

Why The Jets Could Cover The Spread
If the Jets are going to cover this spread, then Zach Wilson will need to get back on track. Wilson is returning to the Jets after missing the last few weeks with a knee injury. Wilson's best game as a rookie came in Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers. Since then it's been nothing but downhill production. Wilson is going to be let loose on Sunday and this could be the game where he finally breakout.
The Jets aren't going anywhere this year and don't have much to lose. They don't want to ruin their future by allowing Wilson too much freedom to get injured, but this should be the game where they showcase his talent. The No. 2 overall pick needs to make a mark on this season somehow. Head Coach Robert Salah should let Wilson utilize his strong arm and create plays for him to do so. The Texans' defense isn't going to shut it down. If this all happens, then the Jets should cover this spread with ease.
Why The Texans Could Cover The Spread
The Texans really should have no problem covering this spread. The Jets display one of the worst defenses of all time and Tyrod Talor needs to take advantage of that. Taylor scored two rushing touchdowns in the surprise upset win over the first-place Tennesee Titans last week. He should be in line for another strong game as he has actually played well this year. The Texans only two wins game when Taylor started at QB.
The defense, on the other hand, will need to contain Wilson. If they don't allow him to play well then the Jets aren't going to be able to do anything. The Jets' top running back Michael Carter will miss the next few weeks with a knee injury. With that being said, expect the 30th ranked Texans defense to step up and dominate the game.
Final Jets-Texans Prediction & Pick
I'm taking the Texans to cover this spread and win at home. I don't expect Wilson to come back and play so well so easily. Even though both of these defenses aren't good at all, I think it will be a good game to watch. The NFL needs to see Wilson breakout and it's fun to watch Taylor play as well. It should be a high-scoring game with the lack of defensive production. If you need to make a bet on its one, take the Texans at home and the over on the score as well.
