While the New York Jets await word on a potential Aaron Rodgers trade, the team has quietly built up their offensive line. As the Jets look to continue improving in the trenches, New York has their eyes set on a former Pro Bowl lineman.

The Jets are interested in center Ben Jones, via Brian Costello of The New York Post. New York hired Keith Carter to be their offensive line coach and run-game coordinator earlier this offseason. Carter spent 2018-2022 as the Tennessee Titans' offensive line coach. There, he worked with Jones. With Carter in tow, the Jets seem interested in reuniting the coach with Jones.

Ben Jones has spent the past seven years playing with the Titans. He spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Texans. Jones has appeared in 172 NFL games, starting 151 and has let up 21.5 sacks over his career. Despite appearing in just 12 games last season, Jones was voted to the Pro Bowl as an injury replacement.

New York has recently signed Wes Schweitzer and Trystan Colon. Their interest in Jones shows how serious the Jets are about improving their offensive line. The team let up 42 sacks this past season, the 10th most in the NFL.

Jones is 33-years-old and dealt with numerous concussions last season. However, when healthy, Jones has been a sturdy force on the interior of the Titans' offensive line. Jones already has a connection to the Jets' new offensive line coach. If Jones is healthy and willing to play for New York, Aaron Rodgers might find himself a new blocker if/when he joins the Jets.
