Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone is hoping the team can reintegrate shooting guard Will Barton back into the lineup within the next couple of weeks.

Barton underwent surgery on Oct. 23 on his right hip. The Nuggets said Barton was slated to miss five to six weeks after the surgery was performed.

Will Barton signed a four-year, $54 million deal with the Nuggets in July. The 27-year-old is coming off a productive season with Denver in which he averaged 15.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists while shooting 45.2 percent from the field, 37.0 percent from beyond the arc and 80.5 percent from the free-throw line.

In the two games he played in this season before going down with the hip ailment, Barton averaged 16.5 points. The high-flyer is one of the best microwave scorers in the league. The Nuggets, who are 14-7 on the season, are going to be much more dangerous on offense once Barton comes back.

Denver has been starting Torrey Craig in place of Will Barton. Craig is averaging 3.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in 16 games and shooting 38.1 percent from the floor and 16.7 percent from beyond the 3-point line. The Nuggets are currently on a four-game winning streak and have the third-best defense in the NBA. Denver is giving up only 102.3 points per game.
