The Denver Nuggets finally decided to part ways with Emmanuel Mudiay, sending him to the New York Knicks on trade deadline day. In exchange, they received Devin Harris from the Dallas Mavericks and a second-round pick from the Knicks.

Harris was a beloved part of the Mavericks organization and it sounds like it was a hard decision for many inside the organization.

One guy that seems really excited to get Harris is Nuggets head coach Michael Malone. According to Gina Mizell of the Denver Post, Malone spoke great things about Harris Friday morning.

“You get a guy in Devin Harris who has the experience, the character, who fits into the culture that we’re trying to create. I get text messages from some of their coaches yesterday saying what a great guy we’re getting”

Harris also didn't seem surprised by the news when he found out he was traded. Harris gave a few thoughts to Eddie Sefko of SportsDay:

“Sometimes you just got to see the writing on the wall. We were playing our young guys a little bit more trying to bring those guys along. I'm a wily veteran now and sometimes, you just crunch the numbers.”

Harris will be a huge part of the Mavericks history, and there is a chance he could come back this off-season, but right now this is a good opportunity for him to help the playoff bound Nuggets.

He will be a good role player off the bench for a team that is currently sitting with the 7th seed in the Western Conference. He will be expected to be a leader on this team, and hopefully, propel them into the playoffs.
