Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets finished with the fifth-best record in the NBA in 2020-21 and even made it to the second round of the playoffs despite being hobbled by injuries. However, that's apparently not enough to warrant a Christmas Day game for the upcoming season.

With that said, Jokic also ended up on the wrong end of history. He became the first reigning MVP to not get a Christmas Day schedule since the event increased to five games in 2008, something that the Nuggets are certainly not happy about.

The apparent disrespect to one of the best players in the NBA is quite clear. While only 10 teams are given the opportunity to play on Christmas every year, it's undoubtedly surprising to see Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets get snubbed this time around.

Denver played during Christmas last season, and with Jokic winning MVP and the Nuggets playing well in the past campaign, the expectations were they're going back at home for another winter showdown.

While the Nuggets are out of the Christmas schedule, some newcomers made it. The Atlanta Hawks are playing a December 25th game for the first time in 32 years, while the Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz are also in after dominating the West in the past season.

Still, it'll be weird without The Joker showing the world why he's the reigning Most Valuable Player.
