Former Brooklyn Nets guard Caris LeVert was traded not once but twice en route to ultimately making his way to the Indiana Pacers earlier this 2020-21 season. LeVert was initially traded from the Nets to the Houston Rockets before eventually being shipped to Indiana in exchange for All-Star guard Victor Oladipo.

With the complex whirlwind of a four-team trade that also involved the Cleveland Cavaliers quickly coming together, LeVert's life would change before ever stepping on the court as a member of the Pacers. Upon receiving an MRI as part of his physical with the team, LeVert was diagnosed with kidney cancer after a mass was discovered on his organ, which has kept him out indefinitely.

After undergoing surgery to remove the mass, LeVert sure looks like he's recovering well. In fact, he has taken a big step toward returning to the Pacers after he was allowed to travel and work out with the rest of his teammates.

While the trade that sent him from Brooklyn to Indiana could have very well saved his life, missing out on some basketball games is just a small price to pay at this point as Caris LeVert can still encounter a long and healthy career atop the highest level.

Prior to his arrival in Indiana, LeVert was playing some of the best basketball of his career for the Nets, a team that leaned on the up-and-coming guard in the recurring absences of point guard Kyrie Irving and forward Kevin Durant.

Although there remains no exact timetable for LeVert to return to play with the Pacers, he will soon be added to an Indiana squad that has some serious promise.

In addition to the presence of LeVert, the Pacers also employ big man Domantas Sabonis, center Myles Turner, swingman T.J. Warren, point guard Malcolm Brogdon, sharpshooter Doug McDermott and shooting guard Jeremy Lamb–among a few others.
