The Indiana Pacers are having a tough season thus far. They are 10-16 and sit 13th in the Eastern Conference. The news did not get any better Tuesday, as ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported.

Reportedly Pacers guard T.J. McConnell had surgery to repair some torn ligaments in his shooting hand. This will cost him at least a few months, potentially ending his season.

McConnell had bee coming off the bench for the Pacers, backing up starting point guard Malcolm Brogdon. He was averaging only eight points per game, with a little over four assists and three rebounds. Defensively is where he has made his mark this season, with over a steal per game and one of the best Player Efficiency Ratings on the roster.

Reports lately have been surfacing about the potential for the team to blow it up and start over. With players like Caris Lavert, Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis having All-Star type years, they have plenty of trade pieces.

Sabonis and Turner were expected to make up one of the better front courts in the NBA, but that has not worked out. Despite posting solid numbers individually, it has not led to any team success.

The Eastern Conference is very deep and assuming the Pacers move either Turner or Sabonis, they should be looking to build toward the future. McConnell's injury only helps solidify that sentiment inside the organization.

He has missed the last few games for the Pacers following the injury. Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle initially thought it would be weeks before we saw him on the court. Now, it appears it might not be until next season.
