Indiana Pacers star Victor Oladipo suffered a back injury on Friday against the New York Knicks and was forced to leave the game.

Oladipo told Pacers reporters afterwards that he's hopeful he can play on Sunday against the Toronto Raptors:

The Pacers were able to defeat the Knicks sans Oladipo, who finished with eight points in 25 minutes of action. Indiana is now 33-23 on the season for sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

It has been a struggle for Oladipo since he made his season debut. The All-Star guard entered Friday averaging 11.1 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 32.9 percent from the field, 24.4 percent from beyond the arc and 80.0 percent from the free-throw line.

This was to be expected, though. Everyone knew Oladipo’s return to the lineup was going to be rocky at first since he has been out for so long. Patience is what every Pacers fan needs right now.

Eventually, Victor Oladipo is going to play like the All-Star he is and develop chemistry with his teammates, particularly with new backcourt running mate Malcolm Brogdon.

These things just take time and sometimes fans don’t have the will to be patient, but in this case, they have to be especially patient if they want Dipo healthy and firing come postseason should they make it.
